We have been camped at Emerald Cove RV Resort in Earp CA for the past couple of days. Earp CA is named for the old west lawman Wyatt Earp. He and his GF lived here part-time starting in 1906. We haven’t had a chance to explore the town yet. We’ve been kind of busy at the Tiki Bar.
This campground is big. There are 800 sites, probably 600 are full and it’s NOT quite snowbird season. The resort is located on the California side of the Colorado River. Arizona is just across the river.
The water and the desert are the big attractions. The majority of the rigs here are towing “toys.” The most popular are 4-wheelers, pontoon boats and jet skis. There is also an impressive collection of golf carts buzzing around. I LOVE golf carts, as long as I don’t actually have to play golf.
We are here because Other Half set up 4 free nights with $200 in fuel in exchange for showing up – with his significant other (me) – at a 90-minute sales pitch. Today was sales pitch day.
We are not rookies when it comes to the 90-minute sales pitch. This is the one time where I’m the quiet one. I sit back with my arms crossed and occasionally check my watch. Endearing, I know.
This sales pitch was easy to pass on. Not because of the pitch itself, but because of the condescending dufus that gave it. I could say lots more, but I’ll stop there. The free nights, the scenery and the tiki bar have been good. The $200 fuel perk – not so good. It requires backflips and carefully dotted i’s. Not likely many get redeemed.
We’ll be here for one more night then we head to Palm Springs CA. I saw a sign coming in that read “Watch for wild burros on the highway.” You know what I’ll be doing on the drive out.
