Animal Day

IMG_1369Today was animal day. I am a huge animal lover, especially furry and feathered animals (definitely not snake, spider or bug type animals). Daughter is also an animal lover, although we disagree on which animals are the coolest. She picks crocs and alligators. I pick big cats and bears.

Other Half picks golf.

Daughter and I spent the day at The Living Desert Nature Preserve and Gardens in Palm Desert, California. Palm Desert isn’t too far from Desert Hot Springs, which is where we are camping at Caliente Springs RV Resort. Palm Desert and Desert Hot Springs are in the vicinity of Palm Springs.

We’ve been in this area for almost two weeks and I’m just now getting the hang of the big four name combo’s: Palm – Desert – Hot – Springs. It’s not just the cities, many of the streets and ‘points of interest’ include some combo of the big four. It gets confusing. Thank goodness for GPS.

IMG_1360The zoo lived up to its name, Living Desert. Many of the animals are rescues and the habitats are natural and tucked into a desert landscape. It was cool.

We enjoyed our animal day. Daughter missed the crocs and alligators, but other than that the zoo was good. Our standards are set high by The Toledo Zoo, which for the record, has the largest Saltwater Crocodile in North America. His name is Baru.
