We are back in windmill central – Desert Hot Springs, California. We are once again camping at Caliente Springs RV Resort. We spent a very windy Christmas here. I wrote about that here. This is also the place where I received my education about desert wildlife. I wrote about that here.
Here in Caliente the weather is warmer and the place is busier than last time. When we were here in December the temps were good, but not as good as they are now. There were also plenty of empty campsites. Not so much now. We got the last available campsite on our row. The bonus is we are right next to the couple from Perrysburg, Ohio that we met in December.
In the small world category, the ‘Extreme RV’ from Switzerland is our row mate. We first saw this rig at Mission Bay in San Diego. They came in the day before we left. We didn’t have a chance to meet them in San Diego. Hope to change that here. (And by the way, I have it on good authority, they are not international spies.)
One of the best things about this place is the views. We are in the Coachella Valley surrounded by spectacular mountains and expansive deserts. For the last five weeks we have enjoyed water views. I love water views. But these mountains are hard to beat. It’s taken me about a day to make the shift from water views to mountain views. I’m good.
The other big news is Other Half had a birthday. It happens every year about this time. We celebrated with filets and ice cream. Yum.
