The last couple days have been spent in one of my favorite ways – bumming around with daughter. One of the perks of this snowbird lifestyle is the ability to park the Big Rig within driving distance of North Hollywood, CA where our daughter lives. Another perk is the lack of blizzard warnings.
San Diego is a beautiful place to spend winter months. Our campground, Mission Bay RV Resort, is ideally located. A bonus of this location is the San Diego Zoo. It’s less than 15 minutes away. Perfect.
Daughter and I are both animal lovers. We spent a full day enjoying the critters and the terrain. The terrain of the SD Zoo is challenging and a mini-workout for flat landers. This flat lander needed it.
We followed up the zoo – the next day – with a visit to The Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. The Gaslamp Quarter is an historical neighborhood in downtown San Diego. Daughter was excited to show us around the city. For the last six years she has been coming to San Diego every summer attending the San Diego Comic Con. SDCC, as it’s called, is a huge four-day pop culture event happening in the heart of downtown San Diego. She wouldn’t miss it.
We had dinner at her favorite Italian restaurant, The Old Spaghetti Factory. We parked an easy ten blocks from the restaurant. When daughter is in San Diego she walks everywhere. To her, ten blocks was no big deal. No problem. Other Half and I kept up.
One of my goals while we are here is to kick my butt back into shape. Hanging with daughter (and her pooch Beesly) certainly helps.
