We are entering our third week at Lazy Days RV Resort in Seffner Florida. We had planned on two weeks, but you know how plans go. We came here for two annual events – servicing our Allegro Bus, aka the Big Rig and Other Half’s annual sunshine state golf trip.
Week one we arrived at Lazy Days on Monday afternoon, got escorted to our campsite, set up, went to happy hour, walked the mutt and went to bed. Easy breezy day. Our appointment was Tuesday at 9:00 am. At Lazy Days your appointment time is when you meet with your Service Advisor — not when your service actually starts.
We somehow missed that tidbit.
Other Half had our week scheduled on the tight side. Big surprise there. He planned service for Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday move to the campground across the street and Friday head out to meet his golfing buds. That’s not exactly how it went, but thanks to an amazing Service Tech named Matthew, it worked out.
The second week Rigby and I were solo at the campground while Other Half was swinging the clubs. BTW he finished in the top three. Good job Honey. Last year I was car-less for his golf outing week. That will not happen again.
On the way to drop him off we drove by the very cool Airstream Ranch. It’s located on Interstate 4 East. This photo is from the backside of the ‘sculpture.’ (We opted out of risking our lives by stopping along I4 to snap a frontal view.)
Rigby and I took lots of walks while he was gone. I’m on my FitBit Frenzy which means my step count is important to me. We also witnessed Mother Nature at work – as a hawk claimed its prey. I felt bad for the little bird.
Spent Sunday with my girlfriend Kim. We had a great lunch at the Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill in Tarpon Springs. We spent the afternoon walking along the Sponge Docks of Dodecanese Boulevard.
Tarpon Springs is the sponge capital of the world – sponges, as in from the sea not from Walmart. In the early 1900s Greek sponge divers came to the area and in no time made Tarpon Springs the sponge capital of the world. Today the community has the largest concentration of Greek Americans in the US, per Wikipedia.
A couple of days later I visited a friend and her husband in Lakeland. Anna and I worked together for years. It was fun to catch up and share old stories. She and her husband are in the midst of major downsizing. I can relate. We agreed the freedom of less stuff is totally worth the work.
My week went great right up until it rained. The Big Rig has a bad habit of doing a waterfall impersonation during a heavy rain. It’s an issue we’ve dealt with before – several times. This time the water came through a light fixture above the table. We’re not talking a drip or two. We’re talking soaked towels and full buckets.
The temporary solution was to bring in the slide. The permanent solution is in the works. At least we hope so. We got back on the service schedule and started our third week at Lazy Days with a Monday appointment with our Service Advisor, Chuck.
And here we are – spending the night parked in the service bay. Our lead Service Tech, Dan, has a new approach to resolving the leak. He’s determined and we’re hopeful.
