A little behind on blog posts. Oops. After our week in Ehrenburg Arizona we headed to Pala California. Other Half had intel on a new campground located at a casino. The campground was clean, spacious and pricey. We spent 5 days there enjoying the scenery and losing money at the slots. It was fun. Not profitable, but fun.
The best part were the horses corralled next to the campground.
From Pala we headed to San Diego with a day long stop for an annoying repair. Our Aqua Hot system was on the fritz. The Big Rig is an all electric coach and the Aqua Hot system is an integral part of hot showers and warmth. I spent the day in the waiting room with Rigby on my lap. Other Half spent the day hovering over the mechanic’s shoulder. Glad it’s fixed.
We are now happily located in San Diego at Mission Bay RV Resort. Since the repair took all day, we got in late Thursday. We usually avoid getting into campgrounds after dark. Too much Big Rig with too little daylight. Lucky for us, Other Half has gotten good at positioning in tight campsites — even in the dark.
The primary reason we come to San Diego is to be near our daughter. (And miss out on Ohio winters.) She lives about 2.5 hours away in North Hollywood. We got in on Thursday and she and her dog, Beesly were here on Friday.
We had a great couple of days together, starting with dinner at Outback on Friday night and a family Thanksgiving on Saturday. In between yummy food and reconnecting she and I hit the mall and she and her Dad hit the Verizon store. I‘m convinced iPhones are set to self-destruct at the two year point. Annoying.
One of our favorite things about Mission Bay is the amazing sunsets. I look forward to appreciating them for the next couple of months.
The other cool thing about Mission Bay is you never know what you’ll see. Our first day here we met Zoey the RV Pig. Zoey is a 5-year old Vietnamese Potbelly pig. She’s full grown and loves blankets. She makes a bed out of anything she can get a hold of including laundry. She lets you pet her — sort of — as long as you don’t mind the loud squeals.
If you know me, you know I’m an animal lover, especially wild animals in the wild. Every day Other Half, Rigby and I take the 1.25 mile walk around the promenade along the bay. On our first walk this year we saw a seal swimming in the cove. I tried to get a pic, but no luck.
We also enjoy the Pelicans and the variety of ducks. This flock adds new meaning to the phrase, “Get your ducks in a row.” Not sure why they’re all lined up along the shore or what they’re waiting for, but they sure are cute.
We’re settled in for the months of December and January. This is our third year at Mission Bay. Last years’ stay started with my clod gene incident. I promise to be much more careful this year. Cross my heart.
