We are camped at Lazydays RV Resort in Seffner, Florida. This place claims to be the WORLD’S LARGEST RV DEALER. That’s one heck of a claim. The 300 site campground is just part of the complex. The reason Other Half picked this place is because the Big Rig needed it’s first serious maintenance and in addition to 300 campsites, Lazydays has 200 service bays. At least that’s what he told me.
The real reason he picked this place is because of their serious inventory of new and used big rigs. He has previously tried several times – unsuccessfully – to get me to look at upgraded big rigs. By camping here, he figured my resistance would be lowered. Hey, we’re here anyway we may as well check out the big rigs. It worked.
We spent a good chunk of our first few days here walking the mutt among the bright, shiny, brand new big rigs. The fun part is that the rigs are parked in a campground setting. They are unlocked and opened up with air conditioners running. You are free to go in and out of the rigs at your discretion. No salesman required.
I have to admit, it’s been fun to check out the rigs we normally admire from afar. I knew this pastime was treading on dangerous ground with Other Half. He couldn’t help himself, he ran numbers with a salesman. The good news is we got through it unscathed, at least for now.
The other good news is the salesman gave us two days of complimentary access to the Crown Club. The Crown Club is for the big spenders. It provides complimentary breakfast, lunch and appetizers (including alcoholic beverages) while your big dollar rig is being serviced. We enjoyed it.
While we’re here we took advantage of their Driver’s Confidence Course. This is an all day class on driving a motor home. I wanted to take it since I’ve never driven the Big Rig and it seemed like a good idea to have someone other than my spouse teach me. Other Half took it with me to fine tune his skills. It was a great class and ends with time behind the wheel. No one got sick, so I think I did OK for my first time. The class gave me insight into my copilot driving skills. I’m sure Other Half is going to appreciate my knowledgable input about his driving.
Our scheduled maintenance was set for Thursday at 8:30 am. We thought it would be done by late day Thursday. Not so much. When you live in your Big Rig, if it’s tied up overnight, you need somewhere to sleep. Lazydays knows this. Their service bays are equipped with water, sewer and electric hookups. We spent the night in bay 29.
A high point for me during my first week in Florida was a day spent with a good friend. She lives in the beautiful town of Dunedin, Florida. We spent the day catching up and enjoying the scenery, the houses and the shops. We capped off the day with a fabulous meal while enjoying the water view. Life is good.
