We are back in the land of blue – blue skies and blue waters. We are camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in San Diego. The campground is situated on a narrow strip of land surrounded by water, very blue water.
This little piece of San Diego is spectacular. Here’s a pic of the map the campground gave us. It gives you an idea just how much blue water we are surrounded by. The Pacific Ocean is a hop skip and jump away. As a born and bred Ohioan, this much water is awe inspiring.
This is our second stay at Mission Bay. We were here earlier this year for a month. At the time, we thought a month was a long stay. This time we’re staying for two months and it already doesn’t seem long enough.
After a year on the road, our perception of time has changed.
We started this open road adventure thinking in terms of days, maybe a week at one spot — definitely not months. Fast moving with short stays was the way we rolled. Tight time frames is the residual effect of decades in the working world. Working world trips are planned with high efficiency factored in. (You can guess which of us is the planner.)
After a year on the road, things have changed. Other Half is still the planner, but now he thinks in terms of months, not weeks and definitely not days. I appreciate the change. I’m happy to be here for two months.
One of my goals while we’re here is to put some serious miles on my bike. The entire area is bike friendly and the views are stunning. It’s a perfect fit for me. I love riding my bike. Took my first ride yesterday. I started with a 4 mile round trip. Not much, I know, but it’s a start. I’m famous for overdoing it and having to sit out and recover. Trust me, sitting is not something I need more of.
There’s one more special bonus for us this time at Mission Bay. Our friends Mike and Donna Kuper are also here. It so great to have friends a few rigs down the road. Mike writes the great blog, FlyingtheKoop.com and Donna is a writer and a fitness enthusiast. They’re an inspiring couple and fun to be around.
Friends on the open road, another thing we enjoy about this lifestyle.
