Tuesday was another long travel day. We left our campground south of Phoenix and headed out. It was the first day since we started our big adventure that d-r-a-g-g-e-d for me, and I mean d-r-a-g-g-e-d. The scenery got more interesting, but I think I’d had my fill of Interstate 10.
Rigby was sick of it too. The good news was she spent the day sleeping in my arms. The bad news was she had a tough time finding a place to “go.” The dessert has some nasty critters.
We passed through Palm Springs on our way to Menifee, CA. Palm Springs has the coolest windmill farm I’ve ever scene. All sizes of windmills staggered up the mountains. Very cool.
We got to the campground late Tuesday afternoon. When we got there we were surprised to find out Thousand Trails Campgrounds use the first-come-first-serve method of choosing campsites. In other words you have to fight for the campsite you thought you reserved. Hmmm, not exactly how it was portrayed in the sales pitch.
Because it’s the holiday week the campground is crazy busy. We did several laps looking for a 50 amp site which is no small feet in the Big Rig with a car in tow. With 50 amps I can blow dry my hair without having to explain why it takes longer than 5 seconds. We had to settle for a 30 amp site. Annoying.
Today we moved to a 50 amp site. Life is good. I can now run whatever I want without prior approval. Today our daughter Meg and her pooch Beesly joined us. We are missing our family and friends back in Ohio, but we are excited for our first Thanksgiving in our new home. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for following us on our big adventure.
