We left Las Vegas on Friday morning. The Vegas Thousand Trails Campground was fine in a very cozy kind of way. It was the first campground we’ve experienced where the rigs were parked too close to open awnings. It didn’t matter though, no one comes to Vegas over NYE to sit under their awning.
Our goal for the day was Mesa Arizona, 300 plus miles from Vegas. That’s a long day behind the wheel for Other Half. He doesn’t mind though, as long as we get where we’re going before dark.
The drive was a ride through extremes. We left Vegas in warm weather with sunny skies. We crossed the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge. Enjoyed views of the very blue Lake Mead and then found ourselves driving through snow in Arizona. The roads had been cleared, but there was plenty of snow everywhere you looked.
By the time we got to our campground in Mesa, it was dark. Not the best scenario for positioning and leveling the Big Rig. The good news is we were met by a ‘Rover’ that escorted us to a holding area. Not just any holding area. This holding area was a level parking lot complete with hook-ups. Perfect.
The next morning the Rover returned and escorted us to our permanent site. So far we’re comfy here at View Point RV, Tennis & Golf Resort. I wonder if the Rover does grocery shopping.
The best part of the day was a visit by our friends from Ohio, Mike and Julie. It was great of them to come all the way from Ohio just to visit us. (They might have been vacationing nearby.) Love friends.
