Happy New Year and Welcome 2015! We spent New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas. This was a first for us. We expected it to be warm. It wasn’t. Somehow we managed to pick the week with Ohio-like weather. The temps were in the 20’s in the morning with the 40’s in the afternoon. Good thing we kept warm coats. The weather guru’s predicted snow.
Snow in Vegas is a big deal. They are not prepared for it. The snow threatened to shut down public transportation, make shows go dark and even cancel the fireworks. When I say snow, I mean maybe a dusting. As a mid-westerner who survived one of the snowiest years on record last winter, it was difficult to take a potential dusting seriously.
Good news. The weather guru’s got this one wrong. No snow – unless you count the few flakes Other Half swears he saw.
Once we knew the dusting wasn’t going to materialize, we secured Rigby (our pooch) in the Big Rig and headed out. The plan was to meet our ‘Bucket Buddies,’ Les and Rita and Ron and Kathy and head to the Strip for dinner and a show.
Dinner was thumbs up. I especially enjoyed my Mai Tai. We saw V-The Ultimate Variety Show inside Planet Hollywood. It was funny and entertaining, except for the contortionist who popped his shoulders out of socket and did some very unnatural things with his arms. I could barely watch. It was gross.
Our best laugh of the night came courtesy of Ron and Les. Meet Chip and Dale, their alter egos.
Wishing you a fantastic 2015. Make this the year you let your alter ego SHINE!
